Only in A Dollar Store: Mustard and Ketchup Mobile

After a week of serious organizing posts it’s about that time again for my highly anticipated, most requested, always funny review of a dollar store find.  Some call them dollar stores, some say $.99 Only, but if you read regularly, you know I can’t get enough of them.  Today’s item brings new meaning to the question, “Can you pass me the ketchup?”  It’s a mustard and ketchup mobile!  I know, I know it’s dumb, but kinda cute all the same.  It’s a mobile ketchup and mustard dispenser that looks like you could roll it across the table, but get this, the wheels don’t actually move.  DAMN.

I often wonder how these funny, rarely useful, items end up in the dollar store.  This one is brought to you by the people of Oscar Mayer.  Maybe they held a company picnic, and no one wanted the free door prize.  Or maybe they had a contest to see who could create the most useless, impractical, cheapest promotional item ever—someone should call Guinness; they've accomplished their goal.  Don’t bother checking Sur La Table for this table accessory.  I’m positive you will only find  this little gem at a dollar store—a PERFECT gift for that White Elephant game at your office holiday party.

Only In A Dollar Store: The Glow Cup

I just had to pick this up and try it out.  Not just because the package was so inviting with its pretty blonde girl and clever fonts LOL!  I didn't even pick it up because it came in multiple colors (I like blue).  The true reason I picked it up is because it  glows-in-the-dark!  If I can drink my  favorite beverage in the dark without turning on a light, I'm sold.  Another fun, often silly, $1 Store Find, I give you the Glow Cup.  Oh, you know you want one too; who doesn't love glowy things?

Only in A Dollar Store: Whisk Broom & Dustpan All-in-One

When you can buy the hottest fashion and cleaning trend at a dollar store, you better get one and get it fast! I found this all-in-one broom, dustpan and carrier and just had to feature it. It tucks away into itself and stores the whiskbroom out of sight. All jokes aside, this is another great find. Available exclusively at the 99 Cents Only Stores near you! LOL!

Only in a Dollar Store: Flat Fold Colander

Today’s trip to the dollar store was unusually fun and funny. I asked myself “Who buys that?” a whopping eight times. But, they got me. My curiosity took over, and I ended up taking those eight products home to try them out. One of my prize finds was a Flat Fold Colander, or a “Passoire Pliante Plate” (The package was also in French).

It’s an abnormally large colander, or strainer as referred by some, that folds away for easy storage. It’s plastic, bright green and the perforated holes that drain your fruits and vegetables are actually shaped like stars. When I first saw it I though it was a bench you’d take to a little league game or maybe even a magazine holder. Either way you look at it, it’s a piece of functional art worth the $1 investment. The package tells you it’s microwavable (it would never fit), reusable (as if you would throw it away), re-washable (because you might want to throw it away), and get this, recyclable (in case you throw it away). LOL, I couldn’t make this stuff up if I wanted to. I can’t wait to clean my veggies for tonight’s salad.

Only in a Dollar Store: The Micro-fiber Mitten

I’m a big fan of the dollar store, and here in Los Angeles we have the mother chain of all Dollar Stores called “99 Cents Only Stores.” Anyways, these stores are like giant theme parks to me—they have everything you would ever need and lots of things you will never need. Periodically, I’m going to feature fun and crazy dollar store finds. Fun, right!

The first feature is this microfiber hand glove/rag thing. Actually, it’s more of a mitten. I have been using it to clean everything from my eyeglasses to the bathroom mirror, but why I would need it in glove form is still beyond me. It worked well, but was really hot and made my hand all sweaty. I had fun trying it out though.

(Any idea how to make the cents sign in Word? LOL! Yes, I looked under “Symbol.”)
